Radhey Shyam Sharma’s workshop was dedicated to the care, maintenance, and preservation of traditional Indian musical instruments. Designed for musicians, students, and enthusiasts, the hands-on sessions covered essential techniques of ensuring that instruments such as the sitar, tanpura, and veena remain in excellent condition for years to come. Participants learned how to clean, store, tune and protect their instruments from damage caused by climate, handling, and time. The workshop served as both an educational experience and a cultural practice, emphasising the importance of sustaining the life and soul of these cherished musical companions.
Radhey Shyam Sharma began crafting sitars at age twenty, continuing the family tradition established by his father and forebears, a lineage now carried on by his son Anand. Educated at Banaras Hindu University, he has shared his expertise internationally, notably in Germany, where he demonstrated the intricate sound production and construction of sitars.
